LAGERBOX supports voluntary companionship in Cologne

Social involvement means taking responsibility—for people in need of support and for the organisations that provide it. LAGERBOX is proud to support the association Ehrenamtliche Wegbegleitung Deutschland e. V. with a free storage unit at our Cologne Ossendorf location—and we’re doing so for a full year.

With this contribution, we aim to provide practical help and ease the association’s logistics, giving a boost to volunteer work in the Cologne region.

Support on equal footing – why this organisation matters

EWD e.V. provides volunteer companions to children and young people who live in residential care facilities (formerly known as children's homes) and have insufficient contact with adult caregivers outside the facilities. These are visits every two weeks. And they are exclusive, long-term, and reliable. To ensure that this important task is successful, the association trains, supports, and supervises interested adults who are capable of reflection.

The association relies on stable structures in the background. Sufficient storage space is needed for information materials, training documents, technical equipment, event supplies, and advertising materials—this is exactly where our offer comes in.

Space makes things easier – convenient and central

With the free storage unit in Cologne Ossendorf, we’re providing the association with a secure, central location for their materials. This eases pressure on internal processes, saves costs, and frees up the team to focus on what truly matters: children and young people.

Our colleagues on site in Cologne Ossendorf played an active role in making this partnership happen. For many of them, these social commitments are more than just an idea. They’re part of everyday life—shaped by their own volunteer work, by people they know working in care roles, or personal experiences in their peer group. The joy was all the greater when we were able to help by providing a storage unit.
